May you find yourself in the world…and may you enjoy the company!
A very good friend who lives in Australia has sent me this very sad message. She hopes that we can send collective prayers to baby Cordelia Whatman.

Fourteen months old Cordelia Whatman, in Sydney Australia, is critically ill. She has four to six more weeks to receive a liver transplant. If she does not receive a donor soon she will be too ill to survive the operation.

Please send prayers that baby Cordelia will find a donor very soon.

Sending prayers, faith, comfort and love to baby Cordelia and her family.

Inda

May the angels surround baby Cordelia with healing light.

Thank you for your prayers yoko and Teo.

Cordelia was diagnosed with biliary artesia at 10 weeks old where the bile ducts in her liver became blocked and bile could not escape.

Most patients for this type of surgery have waited for about 8 months, but Cordelia has already been waiting for 10 months and her condition is rapidly deteriorating where she might not survive the surgery if it is not immediately done. The success rate of this surgical procedure has been 88%.

Cordelia's mother would be willing to donate part of her liver to her daughter, but because Cordelia has an abnormal portal vein this is not a good option.

Sending infinite healing prayers for baby Cordelia.
May she be able to lead a healthy and happy life.

Lord Jesus, Who went about doing good and healing all, we ask You to bless Your friends who are sick. Give them the strength in body, courage in spirit, and patience in pain. Let them recover their health, so that, restored to the Christian community, they may joyfully praise Your Name, for You live and reign forever and ever.

Amen.

I received a very sad update from my friend about little Cordelia.

Here is a part of the message:

I had lunch with Warrick, Cordelia's dad, on Thursday and it was very, very sad hearing about Cordelia and their trials and tribulations. Tragically, she is getting to the end of the road as her veins have started to bleed, hence her admission to ICU 2 weeks ago. Would you believe that Cordelia has just missed out on a liver transplant because her surgeon was away and the other surgeon did not have the confidence to perform the operation so the liver went to another baby!!!!! To make it even worse, the baby was in theatre having the transplant when Warrick was being told about it!!!!! Rachel's mother collapsed in the shower earlier this week from sheer exhaustion, they think. Warrick has lost a ton of weight and is pale but otherwise looks OK. He was almost in tears as he was telling me about the kindness that people have shown eg he has come home to find parcels on the doorstep and sometimes they've been from people whom he doesn't even know. Warrick was very appreciative of the prayers that have been given by you and others on Teo's website, Inda. Thank you again. I'm sure that they've helped.

Thank you everyone for your prayers for baby Cordelia and her family.

Fortunately she has had a donor and has received the transplant, but I think that prayers are still much needed.

Here is the news I just received from Australia:

Hi everyone

I thought you might be pleased to hear that Cordelia has had a live transplant and her new liver seems to be working well!!!!! What wonderful news!!!! The date of the transplant cannot be disclosed and there can be no media coverage for 3 months.

Unfortunately, it hasn't been plain sailing since then. I visited Cordelia in Sydney on my return from Townsville despite the fact that she was in intensive care and Warrick's assurances but didn't feel comfortable doing so. I don't think I realised how ill she has been until I saw her. Oh, my God, the poor little darling. Cordelia has had high temperatures and problems with her bilrubin count and they had a rough weekend " in and out of tests, a number of anaesthetics and theatre" (have quoted from Warrick's latest email). She has been experiencing some secondary problems and breathing difficulties but apparently the doctors aren't overly worried, which is an enormous relief. It seems that they won't be discharged until the end of August. Warrick is very disappointed, especially for Rachel as she hasn't been out of the hospital for more than 3 months. I suppose I thought that the transplant would solve everything pretty quickly, providing there were no rejection issues, so all this has come as a great shock to me. Poor little Cordelia, her battle continues but hopefully her problems will become less serious and occur less frequently in the near future, and that her parents and grandparents will be able to rest more easily.
