Yoga is a philosophy, a way of life. It is a process which helps one live in an integrated way, harmonising all aspects of life. Yoga can bring in a healing touch to the ailments of the body and can provide a soothing effect to the mind apart from rejuvenating the spirit. It is a physical exercise which offers a spiritual experience and mental calmness. Yoga is an art of body and mind and at the same time it is a science which can contribute to the wellness of physical being of a person.

The history of yoga can be traced back to ancient ages and it was part of the Indus Valley civilization. There are a lot of ancient sages and scholars who contributed to the development of this discipline. ``Practising yoga helps in controlling the body and mind; yoga and meditation allows you to transcend to a spiritual realm, which in turn will again contribute to your physical and mental wellness,’’ says Sajeendranath, who practices yoga daily.

The relaxing and soothing effect that the yoga provides is beyond comparison, say those who experienced it. Ancient scholars of the healthcare sector in India understood the relevance of such an art and incorporated it in our traditional healthcare system called Ayurveda. Ayurveda uses yoga mainly while treating many lifestyle diseases and it is an integral part of spondylitis ayurvedic treatment and stress-busting therapies.

Ayurveda and Yoga are ancient Indian sciences dating back to the Upanishads, written between 1000-5000 BC. They have been practiced for thousands of years in the land for the healing of body, mind, and consciousness. However, while Ayurveda deals more with the health of the body, yoga deals with purifying the mind and consciousness, but in actual practice, they complement one other.

The ancient rishis (seers) were the original masters of Indian sciences. They considered good health as an essential asset on the path toward self-realization and god-realization.

* Both Ayurveda and Yoga offer many ways to prevent and heal various disorders as well as to cleanse and rejuvenate the body.

* Besides sharing a philosophical foundation, both systems have many similarities in relation to attitude, nutrition, diet, hygiene, exercise, cleansing practices, as well as spiritual practices.

* Both recognize that keeping the body healthy is vital for fulfilling the four aims of life: Dharma (duty), Artha (wealth), Kama (desire), and Moksha (liberation).

* Both recognize that the balance of doshas (humors), dhatus (tissues), and malas (waste products) is essential for maintaining good health.

* Both share virtually the same metaphysical anatomy and physiology, which consists of 72,000 nadis (subtle channels), 7 main chakras (energy centers), 5 bodily sheaths, and the Kundalini Shakti (energy).

* Both advocate the use of diet, herbs, asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, astrology, prayer, puja, and rituals for healing the entire being.

* Both encourage physical health as a good foundation for mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The list does not end here. There are a number of other similarities between the two practices.

What great wisdom and positive health benefits you have added to Givnology! Thank you ever so!

Yes.

He he..

Welcome Wilde and Ignac! Wave

OK I'll venture to answer your question W4.. Animated1 A good teacher is best, and supportive yoga classmates. Medium quality teacher and classmates is still good, poor teacher and unpleasant classmates maybe not so great? Roll Eyes

Since you should always go as far as your particular body wants to go, you need to know how limber your own body is, so it is of course good to do a lot of stretches and yoga postures on your own so that you know what your limits are, and then even when you have a class, do what is just on the edge of comfort for yourself, hopefully your teacher will say the same thing.

A good video is excellent, is that a class or doing it on your own? Therefore good YouTube could be a good teacher. I read a funny book about Cat-Yoga and the postures were so funny, that it inspired me to do more yoga! So there are various things that are better or not so better for your yoga practice.

My latest yoga is: I have a wonderful flat pillow to rest my wrist on while typing and mousing around. Then one day after not-so-much on my computer, only 10 hours or so, my neck was tight on the right side. I switched the pillow and keyboard so that the other hand was mousing, it took a little work to get the familiar shift-control-mouse drag-keep an eye for email-don't fall sitting on my exercise ball-yelling to the lower floor "I'm coming to dinner" all at once, but once I got the hand of it, now both sides of the neck are equally tight! Asian

I hope that helped.

Incense is an important tool in yoga which can help awareness as well as promote energy and concentration. The presence of incense creates a favorable atmosphere which calms the mind and makes it suitable for enjoying the exercise experience.

The smell from incense is absorbed by the mucous membranes of the nose and moves directly to the center of our brain, where it influences our emotions, hormones, our nervous system and our perceptions. Now you can Buy herbal incense online.

This is very helpful and useful information for health. Yoga is the best exercise for the health-related problem like heart stroke, diabetes, obesity, Asthma, stress and many more. But it is very important to practice this exercise under the supervision of a Trainer. This exercise is relaxed the mind and improves the blood circulation of fresh air to the important organ parts.

Yoga exercise is great for health so we must practice yoga daily to lead a healthy lifestyle. Yoga helps in losing weight and prevent stress, diabetes, depression, heart-related problems, obesity, and hypertension. This exercise helps in breathing better and makes our life flexible. yoga is relaxed the mind and improves the blood circulation of fresh air to the important organ parts.

I need to get back to yoga as well.

 physical benefits of yoga include:
  • increased flexibility.
  • increased muscle strength and tone.
  • improved respiration, energy and vitality.
  • maintaining a balanced metabolism.
  • weight reduction.
  • cardio and circulatory health.
  • improved athletic performance.
  • protection from injury.
