May you find yourself in the world…and may you enjoy the company!
Dear friends,

I used to say that "we can be each other's free therepy" by simply talking and listening to each other, with concern and compassion.

I believe this opportunity has grown immesurably with internet discussion forums.

In the real world, you meet someone and first impression - the outside of them - is what you use to judge them. You notice the manner of carrying themselves, their voice, their expressions. You might, after a while find out what is inside them, what they are behind the visual. It might be months, or even years later, that you can find out what their innermost feelings are. You may never find out!

In the virtual world though, especially places like prayer discussion board circles, isn't it funny that we experience a person's deepest innermost feelings first!

In the real world this would be called "wearing one's heart on one's sleeve," meaning that they are 'transparent,' you can see through the facade and they are laid out for you to see them uncovered. Wearing one's heart on one's sleeve is of course dangerous, and we would likely never consider telling innermost feelings at first meeting...

In the virtual world, first of all we can use a fake name, we don't have to tell people anything about who we truly are, and we can feel free to 'spill our beans,' or 'let it all out' saying whatever we really feel.

I used to use the phrase "pen-pals who have come to life" referring to friends met in discussion forums. I'll never forget the first time a discussion friend sent me a picture. I had put together a very different idea of them in my mind... now it would seem that the same happens in reverse when we meet people, we might have a very different idea of what is inside until we get to know it eh?

This all makes me wonder: "Is typing in little boxes on my computer screen being unsocial?" In the past I would have thought, of course! But now, we are not only making real, true, honest friends in the best sense, but we are allowed to "wear our hearts on our sleeve" and feel safe and within our circle of sacred closest friends... 2Hearts 2Hearts

This gives me the warmest fuzziest feeling of knowing I have true friends with whom I can share my joys, plights, ups and downs, and will get compassionate feedback. Thanks and love to you all! Angel Yes Kiss

It reminds me how the phrase "Rap Group" up to the 70s meant a "Group Therepy" session where there was a) the nervious introductions, b) sharing feelings and issues and c) hearing other people's opinions which hopefully, and often DID resolve the issues. Maybe we have all evolved to using the safety of typing in our little boxes, getting our deepest feeling out, having a compassionate shoulder to lean on, ear to talk to, and we now are each others free therepy!

Of course there are security issues and we cannot trust people just by their words, some people have sad stories about internet meetings, but many people have great success stories of meeing kindred souls, and having their "issues" healthfully resolved. Now isn't that nice! he he.. Wave2 Love2

I'm just sharing that I am so pleased with having found very nice friends in these discussions, and it is heart warming that I can nowadays, in most cases, wear my heart on my sleeve!

Yes, dear Teo, I agree!

It is incredible how we can touch each other with this means. I am very grateful for the friendship, love and warmth I receive through my pen pals via internet. There are a few very special ones!

We can trust our intuition mostly ...we feel it, when trust is well placed.

I loved your ponderings, dear Teo.

When we find somone who is compassionate enough to LISTEN and to care, then we have found a treasure!

A connection full of light ...
I have developed a number of deep, meaningful friendships over the internet. As my dear Colomba (Margherita) said, our intuition will tell us a lot about the person, if we just listen to it.

I am not a naturally trusting person, but there are a few people I know I can trust with my inner self, and those people, whom I have met through the computer, mean the world to me.

So Dear Teo, let me add my thanks to you for this wonderful site. I can come here and just be.

Love,
Lynette

Amen and Awomen to that! Kiss

Thanks Lynette for "bringing this post back," replying to it. Now I have excuse to continue! he he.. Nut

I truly have a problem: I notice things. On most "boards" or forums, people DO use fake names. Like I said above, this is in a way a safe fun thing to do, why not? But I find that people who use their real names, or at least not names like "evilcybererror" are, usually more genuine "people." And amazingly, that is what we mostly have here!

My first experience with discussion forums was Dr. Deepak Chopra's, many years ago. I literally found therepy by the communication with some reeeally loving beings I met. Being a pianist, we often accompany the singer or soloist, and "complimenting" in pianist lingo is not just saying a nice thing, but supporting and facilitating the main act's success. Many here fondly remember the old Chopra boards, I still peep in there (and remember my growth) to pick up some great information and compassionate words.

Pat Metheny is a guitarist with great talent, and technical wizardry. One time I saw him perform, and he had this keyboardist Lyle Maze I think, and I instantly saw what was up. This pure genius of a pianist was "enabling" or "complimenting" Pat, and I admire that.

Here we are blessed with some great poetic talents, and true appreciators of art. I love the challenge of making this place as fun to use, and enjoyable for people to share their gifts. So it is sort of a "great marriage" if you don't mind the domestic metaphor. The wonderful sharing in Givnology makes it a haven for me. Especially my ability, OK my right, to blab on and on incessantly! he he.. Googly

Just like what I said, and Margherita repeated, when you have a good ear, letting out words can truly be healing. And isn't it amazing in this violent and negative world, to find circles of friends that we intuit we can share our innermost feelings with. THANK YOU!

May we continue to be blessed with close friends and the ability to grow and blossom together. Amen.

Teo me boy, please continue to blab on and on. I enjoy reading the ponderings of other people. Once in a while, I like to ponder too. But I usually get in trouble by dpm because she thinks I should get more sleep. Don't worry my Pearl of Serenity, I'm sleeping enough.

So dear Teo, blab and ponder and think. I like the way your mind works.

Dear CrystalBlue,

W E L C O M E !

Enjoy your stay here @ Givnology! Really glad to see you here, and I'm sure you'll find some excellent thinks to help: Living to learn, and learning to live! Clap Laughing

We don't really have (or need probably) a bazillion members on-line all the time, QUALITY, not QUANTITY!

I'm really glad that you "brought back" this post, it was a time I was exploring why having friends in these discussion boards is so great. And I still believe it fully! Most of us met on Dr. Deepak Chopra's discussions - his "old boards" which seem to be closed down.. Frown

The origins of Givnology are sort of: Chopra boards, WellBeingCreativity, and whala - GIVNOLOGY! http://www.Inersha.com/wellbein but by now you can see that we enjoy sharing art, poetry, philosophy, spirituality, yoga, wellness, health and positive approaches.

Love2 Thanks for saying hello, and hope 2 c u more! Ladysman

Aaaah the s-elf, S-Elves, yeeeeessss.... I always feel the most important journey is within, Voyages into Inner-Space I call it. That part is not so not un-difficult Googly but truth??? That is a random collection of NOWs, points of view, opinions and mass hallucinations! I think the key is to not not search for the truth, since it always changes, as do you, but effort effortlessly to get glimpses(???)i dunno, really...

I have the problem of believing the statement "If you love something set it free, if it comes back it is meant to be" but people usually take my kindness for weakness, my lack of jealosy for not wanting them... waaaaah! Frown I say all of that to say, the link "Boardroom" on every page of Givnology is a discussion forum link database (in process) to help people go away --- no!!! Well there are some really heavenly boards/forums listed there, tell'em Givnology sent ya' huh? Love2

This page may help you find your s-elves: http://Givnology.com/chakras.htm and do return pleeeez?
