It is not until late in the fifteenth century that Cecilia quite suddenly began to be associated with music. She was declared the patron saint of church music by several musicians' guilds and began being regularly portrayed playing the organ.

Along with St. Catherine, St. Cecilia is considered one of the muses of poetic art. This fact helps to explain why she so often appears in art. Another reason St. Cecilia appears widely in art is because artists like to work with the "rapt expression" associated with St. Cecilia's facial expressions (Jameson 345).

I wonder, if we took all the celebrations from all cultures and put them on the calendar, if there would be a day of the year that isn't officially celebrated somewhere?

That reminds me, Susan, a friend said that at the school where she works they collected all the holidays for the Christians, Jews, Arabs, and all the other religions, and they had to organize all the days off for each one, observances for each, and it was very difficult with all the different holidays - correctly "Holy Days" but no one thinks of them that way anymore hum? Saint Cecilia (LatinSancta Caecilia) is the patroness of musicians. It is written that as the musicians played at her wedding she "sang in her heart to the Lord".[2][3] Her feast day is celebrated in the Latin Catholic,Eastern CatholicAnglican, and Eastern Orthodox churches on November 22. She is one of seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin, commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass.

From Wikkipedia.

Saint Cecilia Saint Cecilia is one of the most fascinating saints. She lived during the Roman Empire and was born to a wealthy Roman family. She vowed her virginity to Christ but her parents married her off anyway. She then converted her husband who respected her virginity and converted his brother. Together her husband and his brother buried martyred Christians which was illegal, and therefore resulted in their martyrdom. St. Cecilia responded by converting hundreds of people and burying her husband. This and her refusal to worship false gods resulted in her being arrested.

According to legend, St. Cecilia was not martyred easily. They first attempted to suffocate her but it did not affect her. Then they attempted to behead her but they were again unsuccessful. She instead bled to death for three days as she continued to preach and people collected her blood in sponges and napkins. The story of Saint Cecilia is one of courage, evangelization, and love of God in the midst of persecution and strife.

Thank you for this post Teo.
