May you find yourself in the world…and may you enjoy the company!
Please join me in a prayer for destroyed cats and dogs.
May they be happy in the meadows of the sky.

Only 8 dogs and cats were saved as blaze destroys animal shelter in Oshawa, Durham region. 150 cats and dogs were killed in the fire.

The shelter employees and volunteers gathered to grieve for the lost creatures.

Sue

Thank you for sharing the very sad news Sue.

Adding my prayers for the departed animals.
They have gone to the most beautiful place.

Don't stand by my grave and weep,
For I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond's glint on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
In the soft brush of the morning's light
I am the swift bird in flight.
Don't stand by my grave and cry,
I am not there,
I did not die.

Thank you for joining me in prayer for the departed animals.

Chief Neil Crouter of the Fire Services said that most of the animals were overcome by smoke inhalation before the flames reached them, so at least they were asleep, and did not feel any pain.

The Humane Society of Durham Region is a no-kill shelter, euthanizing only animals that are terminally ill or very dangerous.
"This is not just a job for us," said animal-cruelty investigation officer Debby Houghton. "We know their names, we know what they like and don't like, how they were abused. Staff would take months and months to turn them around, so they could find new homes.
Some of the deceased animals already had homes lined up.

The rescued animals were kept warm and comforted by police in their cars while firefighters were battling the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unknown. A mass cremation will be held for the deceased animals at the Oshawa Animal Services Centre.

Love,
Sue

I heard about this very sad news here as well.

The poor animals had been saved from abusive homes and very terrible conditions by people who loved them, as well as cared for them, and were finding new loving homes for the animals to go, only to perish in such a sad way.

Sending many prayers to the animals who now are in heaven, enjoying the holiday season together, in a wonderful place.

Love,
