Thank you Sue for posting.

I am really sad to hear that Luciano Pavarotti is dead. I really liked his voice, and I will miss him.
Luckily we will be able to listen to our CD's and tapes.
In a way, we are able to keep him singing forever, wherever he may be.

Love,
Vicky 2Hearts

It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is useless. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

I am very sad to hear the news about Luciano Pavarotti.

Fortunately I had the opportunity to hear him at a live concert in Hawaii. He was my favourite tenor.
As Vicky mentioned, fortunately we have his lovely voice recorded forever.

May he sing with the angels.

Love, Inda

There the sky is filled with music:
There it rains nectar:
There the harp-strings jingle, and there the drums beat.
What a secret splendour is there, in the mansion of the sky!
There no mention is made of the rising and the setting of the sun;
In the ocean of manifestation, which is the light of love, day and night are felt to be one.
Joy for ever, no sorrow,--no struggle!
There have I seen joy filled to the brim, perfection of joy;
No place for error is there.

Joining you in remembering Luciano Pavarotti. He had a very special talent really, considering that he had not studied music! An incredible ear! He was very much loved in the whole world indeed.
May he continue to sing and share emotions in the place where he is directed... and where there is no pain to endure anymore.

May his soul soar high and free.
He was also a very generous artist, always sensitive to the needs of those less fortunate, especially for children.

Margherita

On his wedding day with Nicoletta
MODENA, Italy, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The funeral for opera legend Luciano Pavarotti took place Saturday in his hometown Modena as tens of thousands mourners gathered at Modena's cathedral to pay their final respects to the great Italian tenor.

Among the dignitaries at the funeral were Italian Premier Romano Prodi, Culture Minister Francesco Rutelli and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

During a funeral eulogy in Modena's medieval cathedral, Prodi said that Pavarotti was a musical genius who used his talent to spread peace and brotherhood in the world.

The Italian tenor employed his musical artistry "as an instrument for life and against war," said a visibly shaken Prodi.

"Pavarotti was not only a great artist but also a messenger of peace and brotherhood. He was a messenger of peace in areas where mankind's pain is felt keenest. The fact that the former United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan is here is an indication of how strong Pavarotti's feeling of kinship with mankind's fate were throughout his life".

Local people and foreign fans who rushed to the hometown of Pavarotti in northern Italy watched the service on a huge television screen erected in Modena's main piazza.

The U2 frontman Bono was greeted by a round of applause on Saturday as he arrived for the funeral of his friend Luciano Pavarotti.

Pavarotti joined forces with U2 in 1995 to write the song Miss Sarajevo and Bono participated in many of the tenor's humanitarian gestures.

Other celebrities who attended the ceremony included film director Franco Zeffirelli, Italian singers Zucchero and Gianni Morandi, ballerina Carla Fracci.

Soprano Mirella Freni, a close friend of Pavarotti's broke into tears when she told Italian state broadcaster RAI she had been too heartbroken to sing at the funeral.

Mourners included the tenor's second wife, Nicoletta Mantovani, holding Alice in her arms, and his first wife Adua Veroni with their three daughters, who are all in their 40s.

After the funeral, the tenor, who died from cancer early Thursday at the age of 71, will be laid to rest at a local cemetery alongside his parents.

Italian Premier Romano Prodi has put off a state visit to Slovenia to attend the funeral.

I lost my little black cat Crescent on that same night. I was uncertain of his age. About two weeks earlier he had disappeared for the better part of a day, and returned a little muddy around midnight and we had a very good reunion. He didn't come in at night this next time and I found him in a special spot where it looked like he had a renal failure. Then I read that Pavarotti had died and having already found my self waxing philosophic about the spirit and how it is free, but then had a second thought about how wonderful a live performance is, and how in either case there is an empty place where
someone engaging once had us capitivated and how much we will miss that.

I am sorry yogionefromobie about your cat. I just lost two cats myself a little while ago.

The kitties are all in heaven enjoying themselves while Luciano Pavarotti is singing to them, surrounded by heavenly angels,
while we mortals left on Eart mourn for them.

Love,
Sue
