Listen closely
To this story
Of a child written long ago,
Who came from the mountains
To the distant valleys
Bringing a message of peace and hope.
This child sang to all the people
Words were whispered far and near,
Of the power that’s in the heart
Of the wisdom all can share.

“In your heart
And in your mind
Working together
You will find,
All the treasures
And all the gold
Lies in two simple words
Never needed to be told.
Feel the warmth
Which grows inside
And in this feeling
You will cry,
Sounds of freedom
Sounds of laughter
Sounds of children
Forever by your side.”

Some of the people
Wanted the secrets
To all the treasures
All of the gold,
They took this child
And locked him up
Keeping this child
Deep inside.

These people grew in sickness
Age and resentment
Hate and fear,
Never understanding
Never receiving
Forever lonely in despair.

And when the child had faded and died
They had lost their secret
This wealth was gone,
They could not share in
This life treasure
These words in which they seek.

When elders looked
To the other people
And saw them happy
Full of life,
Full of laughter
Full of love
Reflecting ever clearly
So brilliantly bright.

“How could this be
We had the child
We held him within,
He was ours to keep
Ours to have
Never to share
Never to lend.
Only the words
We were never told
To all the riches
And to all the gold,
Died with this child
Never again to be seen
Forever left, untold.”

As their feelings
Turned from anger
Turned from jealousy
Turned towards rage,
A child did step forth
And kissed them lightly
Only then did they know.

The words for which they were seeking
To all the riches, all the treasures
And all the gold,
Laid in their heart
Always there
Never needed to be told.

This feeling, forgiveness
This feeling of love
Came from deep within,
From within their soul,
Is all that is treasured
Is all that is needed
Wealthier than all the gold.

So now you know the story
The words, the feelings
Living within us all.
Live your life
Live it as a child,
Live it in forgiveness
Live it in love.

Listen closely
To this story,
Of a child,
Written long ago.

Good news from heaven the angels bring,
Glad tidings to the earth they sing:
To us this day a child is given,
To crown us with the joy of heaven.

Here is another poem for the season

by Robert Louis Stevenson

Loving Father,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate
and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift
and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing
which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning
make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds
with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven,
for Jesus' sake.

Amen.

Merry Christmas to all of you and your loved ones, dear friends! Wherever you are or will be ...

To read Tim's poem makes me long for him ... it would be such a gift if he came back!!! He is missed very much.

May all of you dear friends find a moment of calmness to immerse in the real Christmas atmosphere, to ponder the immense gift of love, which was bestowed on us so long ago. May we identify with LOVE and with COMPASSION, in order to live from our souls and hearts, where truth resides and where everything's all right. May we overcome our own sadness or our worries to reach out to others who may be in need of warmth and love.

I just wrote a little haiku and want to share it with you.

Silent night blessing:

radiant light filled with peace

precious gift of love

Love and hugs and Merry Christmas,
let's imagine to gather in front of the crib where little Jesus sleeps and to say a common prayer for love and peace to expand as well as a prayer of praise and gratitude for the Divine Blessing of His Coming into our World.

Christmas is almost here again.

Wishing all who celebrate

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and a prosperous and happy 2015.

Love,
Vicky

I wanted to add dear Margherita's poem as well:

J E S U S

Your name is on the lips of millions
while they gaze into Your baby eyes.
Whether your smile has been shaped
in wood, marble, gold, silver or stone
you touch the heart of every soul.

To celebrate Your sacred birth on Earth
we rebuild the scene of Bethlehem
and we become like children again,
to feel the genuine joy, sweet Jesus,
of that glorious hour of Your arrival.

You had been given a special mission
You were an extraordinary divine gift
for those who shared Your time
and for all the future generations.
An everlasting treasure for the world.

May we remember Your divine Light
and the message you came to share,
may we be able to identify with You,
to become true messengers of love too,
in order to heal every heart on Earth.

Be our guide on the Path of our Life,
be our light when we can’t see our aim,
be our support when we feel too frail,
be our voice when we don’t know what to say!
Kindle the divine spark within our souls!

May we become like children again,
to walk with You in trust and joy,
spreading love all over the world
providing reason to rejoice for all
remembering the truth that we are One.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday season,
and peace on earth.

Christmas in Japan - Comparison between a Japanese Christmas and Christmas in western country.

Christmas in Japan is different from western countries like the USA or Australia. The major religions in Japan are Buddhism and Shinto, so Christmas is more commercial event. The main celebration revolves around Christmas eve and not Christmas day.

In Japan it is common to give Christmas presents. Within the family parents give presents to their children, but the children do not give presents to the parents. The reasoning behind this is that only Santa bring presents, so once the children no longer believe in Santa the presents are no longer given.

Most Japanese families would have a Christmas tree and now it is becoming very common to have lights on the outside of houses as you would see in the USA or Australia.

yoko
